Head over to our Builders Inspection page for more information
What is a building report?
The report is put together after the inspection and helps customers make an informed decision. It contains detailed information including photos and an overall summary.
Who is allowed to perform Inspections?
In an unregulated industry…anyone can!
This is why you need to be aware of self-proclaimed experts and why you should choose a BOINZ Accredited Building Surveyor. They are a qualified and experienced professional, who is regularly audited and peer-reviewed by an industry body that guarantees 100% NZS 4306:2005 Compliance.
Do you provide verbal reports?
No. Verbal reports from building inspectors lack professional insurance, violate standards, lead to disputes, are unreliable, and risk unqualified individuals performing inspections, making them a risky and potentially unreliable choice for property evaluations.
Why use an Accredited Building Surveyor?
An Accredited Building Surveyor is assessed through training, assessment and peer review, prior to accreditation and is required to undertake continual professional development courses to maintain their annual accreditation.
The Accredited Building Surveyor Programme benefits not only the potential building purchaser, but provides confidence to the real estate, insurance and banking sectors in relation to the status of a building.
Can i be present during the inspection?
You are more than welcome to be present for the inspection, we do ask that you save all questions and comments until the end of the inspection.
How much does a pre purchase inspection cost?
Choosing the wrong house inspector that offers a cheap service, could end up costing you hundreds, if not thousands in expensive repairs and maintenance.
Each job varies and is quoted accordingly. Fill out our Instant Quote form for a price estimate.
What exactly do you check?
Head over to our Building Inspections page for more information.
Do you test for moisture?
Yes. All of our inspections include moisture tests using non invasive moisture meters to help detect moisture levels up to 40 mm deep from the surface being tested. These tests are taken at susceptible key locations throughout the house. Used correctly these tools can help us detect where moisture is located and can recommend a suitable solution.
When will I receive my building report?
Generally within 24 hours of the inspection.
Urgent reports are sent out the same evening. If you require a same day report, your will need to let us know at the booking stage.
Can you provide estimates for repair?
No building surveyor should provide cost estimates unless they are also a qualified quantity surveyor. You should obtain your own competitive estimates from qualified tradespeople or companies.
Can you advise me whether or not to buy the home?
As a building surveyor, we do not know your financial position or time capacity for undertaking necessary repairs or maintenance, therefore we can not provide this advice. What we can do is inform you of any significant defects, maintenance issues and weathertight risks, so you are able to make your own informed decision to suit your particular situation.
